Back South for Jon

In the beginning of Summer 2008 Jon had the opportunity to return to Peru with his Engineers Without Borders club on campus. They went to the altiplano near Lake Titicaca to work on water systems. Jon had a wonderful time being back there. He stayed with a native couple while in the altiplano (see picture). At the airport he and was able to visit with some of the people he knew while he was on his mission. He was really excited that they were able to make it. I was really glad and proud of him that he was able to go and help other people, but I was so excited when he came home.

Our First Spring Break

For our first spring break together we went with Jon's cousin Quin and his wife Bryn, to Saint George to go camping in Snow Canyon. I always forget how amazing the red rock looks on a bright sunny day with the sky as blue as can be. We had lots of fun taking hikes and rock climbing. We hiked Angel's Landing the first day. It was incredible. Some places we had to hang on to chains strung along the mountain side in order to get up. Being so close to the edge of such a long drop always gives me the wierdest feeling. Like my head is detatched from the rest of me and I always want to take a jump off. Not suicidal, just to feel the wind in my hair and rushing along my skin. But the desire isn't strong enough to induce me to go sky diving! No, I leave it up there on the cliffs.
This trip was my first time doing some real rock climbing. I had done a tiny bit before, but more repelling since the sites I was at before were WAY beyond my skill as a beginner. But I really enjoyed it and Jon was a good and patient teacher.
On our way home we stopped at Cove Fort. And, like every spring break since I started college, it snowed on the way back to Cache Valley. Gotta love the Valley!

A Trip in Time

In order to catch people up that we haven't talked to for ages, I'm starting back where our story begins. (Also, I will be posting in Spanish for our South American friends. DON'T LAUGH AT MY RUSTY SPANISH!!! I haven't kept up at all. To my shame.) So, back in Summer 2007 the university stake divided ward boundries up differently and I got put in Jon's ward for the summer. I met him at a square dance activity the first week of July. HE is lucky. He wasn't going to go to a LAME activity like a square dance. But he did and according to him I smiled at him and he decided to ask me to dance. I don't remember smiling at him, I just wanted some stranger to feel okay about asking me to dance! For me, it wasn't love at first sight. It took about 60 seconds more. Before we had even finished learning the steps, I knew this was it. I went home in shock and refused to write about him or our first several dates until I got used to the idea. Well, it took longer than that. But I fell in love with him under the stars at the Jensen farm a few weeks later. We officially started dating the first week of school (though we hadn't seen anyone else since that fated square dance). The week after conference we got engaged and were married December 20.

Hola amigos!

A start

I am finally getting around to creating my blog. I know, I've been promising to do so for ages. Hopefully once I get this started it will be easier to keep going. Its a start anyway!
